Security Checks- What To Expect

All guests must go through security checkpoints prior to entering a Disney theme park, Downtown Disney (California) or Disney Springs (Florida). While the screening process varies slightly from coast to coast, you can expect some or all of the following measures:

  • Bag Checks- to help expedite this process, have all bags and backpacks unzipped for easy inspection. Be prepared to remove everything from your bag if asked.

  • Consider using clear bags inside your backpack to organize small items. This will allow security to quickly see the contents.

  • If you are using a stroller, be prepared to remove items from storage baskets.

  • Be prepared for all mobile guests in your party to walk through a metal detector. Remember to remove all keys, phones, buttons and pins prior to going through the metal detector. There will be a tub for you to place all your loose items.

Being prepared will help you move through the security lines as quickly as possible. There are typically many security lines. Pick the shortest line or if you really want to move quickly, find the line with the smallest number of bags and strollers as those lines tend to move the quickest.

The following items are prohibited:

  • Firearms, ammunition, knives and weapons of any kind.

  • Self-defense devices (e.g., mace, pepper spray).

  • Alcoholic beverages.

  • Glass containers.
