Go Left!

When exploring Walt Disney World, Disneyland or any of the Universal Studios Parks, you will be faced with a lot of directional decisions such as whether to go left or right. Should you pick the entrance lines on the left or the right? What about the security lines? If the queue line for an attraction splits, should you choose the path on the left or the path on the right? What about the buffet line? When deciding between right and left, I recommend GO LEFT! While this theory doesn't work 100% of the time, more times than not, I have experienced the line on the left is typically shorter and moves quicker. Perhaps this is due to the majority of people being right-handed and subconsciously choosing things on the right or maybe we just have a tendency in America to stay right because we drive on the right-hand side. Regardless of the reason, we decided to put this theory to the test during one of our recent Disneyland visits.

We started at the security lines. The lines to the right were about 40 people deep. The lines to the far left had no line at all. We went left. Next, we rode Thunder Mountain several times and each time when the queue line split, we chose left and each time our line moved quicker than the line on the right. When the line split on Jungle Cruise, we went left and our line boarded first. Inside the queue at Indiana Jones, we decided to go right rather than left, just to see what happened. We watched while several people who were originally behind us in the line, loaded the attraction vehicle before us. 😢 They had chosen left. We continued to "choose left" throughout our vacation with great success. Where our strategy did not work, was the entrance gates. Most of the lines were similar in length so I chose a line on the left and my husband chose a line on the right. He made it in several minutes before I did. However, several people in my line needed their pictures taken for entry so the line moved very slowly.

Maybe it is pure luck or maybe there is science behind the go left theory, but regardless of whether you choose the right or left path in a queue line, keep all members of your party in line with you. This will ensure that your party is placed in the same ride vehicle.
