Traveling with food allergies can lead to a lot of anxiety. What will I eat? Will I get sick? Will people understand my dietary restrictions? Fortunately, Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort offer many allergen-free food items and have many careful practices in place to make your vacation dining as safe as possible.
Disney quick-service dining locations have their menus broken into several different allergy-friendly categories: Gluten/Wheat Allergy-Friendly, Egg Allergy-Friendly, Fish/Shellfish Allergy-Friendly, Milk Allergy-Friendly, Peanut/Tree Nut Allergy-Friendly, Sesame Allergy-Friendly, and Soy Allergy-Friendly.
To access these menus on the Disneyland or Walt Disney World app,
Click the + sign at the bottom of the screen
Select "Order Food"
Tap on the name of any restaurant
Select "View Menu"
Scroll towards the bottom of the menu until you see the Allergy-Friendly offerings
If you do not see any Allergy-Friendly items listed, it may mean that either the particular location doesn't offer any allergy-friendly items or you may need to speak with a Cast Member at the location about their allergy-friendly request. I suggest always speaking with a Cast Member because if Disney can accommodate your request, they will.
When dining at a table-service location, indicate any food allergies during the reservation process and also notify your server once you are seated. You can view the menus for table-service restaurants during the reservation process or in advance by visiting Disneyland Dining or Walt Disney World Dining. As with any food allergy, double check everything to avoid any possible mix-up.
You are also welcome to take your own snacks into both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World. See my blog post on "Snacks and Water!"
Ready to take a Disney Cruise? Disney Cruise Line can also accommodate a range of special dietary requests as well. Regardless of whether you plan to vacation on land or on sea, Disney is ready to make your dining adventures both appetizing and safe.
